Practically Perfect in Every Way

Welcome to those of you joining me from Picturing Disney and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Disney's Saving Mr. Banks, a film about Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers and Walt Disney's attempts to persuade her to let him bring her words to film, is being released on the 20th of this month and I, for one, am very excited!  I cannot wait to see how the film turns out.

In anticipation of its release, I, and the rest of the Peach line, are paying tribute to Mary Poppins.  I decided to have a themed dinner with my family before watching the movie!  (I apologize in advance for the not-so-great iPhone picture.)

We had a tea party to go with the movie.  We had finger sandwiches (the ones on the left are cucumber and the ones on the right are chicken salad), vegetables with ranch, cakes, and tea (with a spoonful of sugar, of course)!

To make this a full blown movie night (which are getting hard to prepare around here, but I am going to try to more often... at least themed meals!), it would be fun to tell jokes at the table, like when they have tea with Uncle Albert.  You could also draw landscapes or other pictures and tell stories of what it would be like if you jumped into them, like Bert's chalk drawings.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Can Do It Mom AKA Mouse Fan Diane.

Here is the map of our Magical Blogorail should you happen to have to make a stop along the way and want to reboard:

Start Your Week Off Right

Each week I post a quote from Walt Disney, a Disney movie, ride, etc. to keep the Disney spirit going... even on a Monday!

"Yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it, you either run from it, or you learn from it."
~ Rafiki in The Lion King

I think this is a very inspirational quote.  Big or small, if something or someone has hurt, embarrassed, or just upset you in any way, take the lesson that it offers and know that tomorrow is a brand new day.  Treat it like a new start!

Here is some great trivia... check out more at imdb.com!

* Originally the film was going to be about a conflict between lions and baboons, and Scar was going to be the baboon leader. Rafiki, the only baboon in the film, was instead going to be a cheetah.

* The wildebeest stampede took Disney's CG department approximately three years to animate.

* In early drafts, Scar was a rogue lion with no relation to Mufasa. Eventually, however, the story writers thought relating him to Mufasa would be more interesting; a threat within. This is why Scar and Mufasa differ so much; They weren't originally designed to be related.

Disney Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  This Friday is extra special because I'm heading down to Walt Disney World to run Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5k during the Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend!!!  I know I've already told you, but I'm just so excited!!  I've been running for a few months now and just did my first non-virtual 5k last month for a Color Me Rad event.  That was awesome but I've been looking forward to this runDisney event for ages, it seems!  So here's a special somewhat-run-themed Disney Friday Favorites!

Favorite Truth:
I found this on Disney Dining's FB page and it seemed made for me, what with my blog name, new found love of running, and all.  :)

Favorite Running Outfit:
Okay, so I showed you that my usual workout gear reminded me of Merida after I saw an outfit on Disney Bound, but here is another one that I would love to put together one day!  Maybe for the next runDisney event I sign up for...

Bonus Favorite Running Outfits:
So I totally want these two running outfits, too.  :)  Loki (I may or may not have a slight crush on Tom Hiddleston) and Daisy Duck.

Favorite Medal Hanger:
How beautiful is this?  I love it!  Now in search of where to buy it!
Update: My friend Jamie at Momma's Playground did the research for me while I was gone!  You can find this and other great medal holders at Allied Medal Displays!

Do you run?  Have you ever participated in a runDisney event?

I Can Go The Distance

This weekend is the Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend at Walt Disney World.  And I am going to be running the Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5k Saturday morning!  I am so excited!  I was thinking of having a Disney-inspired running outfit for it, but it just isn't in my budget anymore.  But recently, while browsing Disney Bound, I found this outfit.

My sports bra, shorts, and running shoes are very close to this color, so I figure I can work with that!  I'll look for some accessories to bring it all together and hey, at least I'll know I'm running as Merida.  ;)  I will post pictures and a review of the run after I get back!

A Thankful Heart

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Peach. Enjoy the ride as we share what we are most thankful for at Disney.

Disney is special.  Magical.  A whole, wonderful world of its own.  There is a lot to be thankful for when it comes to Disney.  It actually breaks my heart when I come across someone who thinks all it is is another theme park just for kids.  I want to show them how much more it is.  I want to open their hearts and minds so they can experience the joy that I do.  But, considering you are reading this blog, I will assume you have discovered that and will understand how much fun and how meaningful the whole Disney world is to kids (and kids at heart) of all ages.

That being said, it took me a little while to think of what I am most thankful for.  We have had so many magical moments there, my dad works there, and it can help you escape your every day stress, even if just for a day.  I think what I am most thankful for is that it helps us remember what our priorities are.  You can get so busy in your every day life that it can be easy to forget what you should be focusing on.  Then you stop, take a moment to take the family to Disney, and sit to watch a show.  Mickey steps onto the stage and...

... you remember what is really important.  Thank you, Walt, for creating this world where we can be reminded of this.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Can Do It Mom AKA Mouse Fan Diane!
